Collaboration with Robbie Williams | Routemaster and Typewriter

In October 2023, James got the surprise of his life. Sitting on the sofa whilst holidaying in Newcastle; he receives a text message out of the blue from none other than music icon, Robbie Williams, asking if he would like to collaborate on an art project.

Robbie, who not only creates artwork, but also uses typewriters in his own work, partnered up with James to create two type-written pieces.

This Routemaster piece measures 42cm x 29.7cm (A3) however the frame and window mount bring the outer dimensions to 58cm x 45.7cm. Each original artwork is appended with a certificate of authenticity.

The art is a take on the meta; the typewriter-typing-the-typewriter typing a bus…(are you following this?)

Here is Robbie’s message from the project:

“My algorithm blesses me sometimes. And this particular time it blessed me with James’s wonderful art.’’How the f*c* does he do that, this is brilliant? I thought.

Then I thought ‘’Wonder if he’ll do a collab’’ So I called him up. I usually hate phone calls, they give me anxiety but not only is James a magician when it comes to art he’s also incredibly easy to chat too.

This is our collab and im looking forward to further chats and further Art-ing.
